1st commissioned Pet Portrait

It's a lovely day here in Limerick and the sun seems to have decided to show us his face for long today! I just got done with my first commissioned pet portrait of a Golden Retriever (named Beau)for my dear friend. Beau reached God's hands a few months back. I was feeling sad while drawing him, but I was thankful that I had the privilege to draw such a beautiful creation of God. I am sure Beau will be happy sitting next to God and being taken care of!

Here is the picture of Beau along with my sketch.

I used Charcoal pencils of thickness 2B, 4B and 6B for this sketch. It took me approximately 15 hours to complete him. I always prefer to work on one go, so that my mind gets tuned. I feel I have trouble if I take long breaks. Just that it gets tough to get back on the groove and the flow seems interrupted. I have noticed that when it comes to art, my stamina level is unbelievable which is usually not the case for other jobs :) I guess that is why God has given special talents to everyone of us and the passion to go for it. Watch out for my next post dear readers :)

My experiments with Art ....

Hello everybody, I am so glad I finally have my own blog up and running! I have always wanted to have a very cute blog with all sorts of art work and craft stuff, but thanks to my laziness its taken me soooo long to implement my ideas. OK now that everything is set, time to start posting :)

Have a look at my first Oil Painting which I did 4 years back. It did take a lot of time and loads of patience. But I was pleased with the end result.

I really loved the French girls ohh and of course the little kittens. I have tried various mediums in painting and I found Oil and Canvas were the best buddies on earth. I still feel, nothing else can beat the effect that Oil has.

Then, I got busy with studies and work and did not really channel my time towards art. After my wedding, things did take a major turn for good. I did try my hands on a loads of other stuff related to art and craft. I lived in New Mexico, USA for a few months just after my wedding during when I happened to meet and learn from Ms. Heather Ward, wildlife artist. She was a true legend in her art work. I did pick up a few skills and nuances from her and I did try out a few of the wildlife art myself.
This one is one of my favorites! Doggie :)

Here is the Bald Eagle.

Well, could not resist from sketching the King of the Jungle.

I am doing a Turtle right now. Will post it once its finished. I am basically an ardent lover of colours. Even my hand towels needs to be vibrant ;) But I was truly amazed at the magic of black and white on paper . Its a stunning combination especially in art I believe. I used charcoal pencils of varied hardness and thickness for my sketch work in wildlife. I was delighted to experiment in this particular area which was alien until I met my instructor Heather. All thanks to her!
Keep an eye on my blog for my next post!

P.S : I truly value your comments. Something to keep me motivated :)
